Diary 2.

DAY 2 IN LONDON
DAY 0 AT TANK.
DAY NOTALOTHAPPENED.

"I didn't go to the ethical fashion exhibition. Instead I sat by the Barbican Canal with an old friend and drank beer, which in the circumstantial sunshine seemed a much wiser option. It was quite beautiful. That followed a sit in Victoria Park, it was really rather nice. I read an interesting article about Kris Van Assche, followed by one more about Veronique Nichanian. Along came 7 o'clock and I thought I'd get back and see what everyones doing.... there isn't anyone home. So the plans for tonight are slightly non existant, maybe later something will pop up.
I bought a month pass for the tube today, I am ready to hop on and off whenever I like. Yes, yes, yes. Oh, and this morning I had the whole key cutting thing to do, after going to the third key cutters finally one they gave me worked. Slightly stressed and hot in the heat, a man in a grannymobile (I dont know the real name, but ok, bare with me, yes?) rode passed me, whistling. A full on old, oversized man. Wearing a stripy sun hat. I love London.

Starting to get really fucking nervous about Tank. Urgh.
BUT loving the skype messages from my loved ones recently. Reaaaally quite fabulous!"

BORE.

WORTHY OF THE NAME?

Borderline gay feelings towards Interview magazine right now.

I'm so glad she's gone wierd.

It would have been so easy for Megan Fox to stay a teenage boys pin-up. Instead she's gone edgy as fuck, and I love it.

Diary 1.

DAY 1 IN LONDON.
DAY 'HELLO' AT TANK.

"So I woke at 6.30 this morning. My sister doesn't have proper curtains in her room and when the light pierces through, it pierces my eyes too. She's away at the moment, at Glasto, having lot's of fun.
I arrived at her flat last night, her housemates let me in, as she forgot to give me a key. Great. So... my plan of doing a little trial run to TANK in the morning rush today has kind of gone out of the window, due to me not actually knowing whether I'll be able to step outside today. The room, my sister's room, was beautiful when I arrived. She'd left me notes, a map and a towel out ready. I've unpacked, and have kind of destroyed her room."

"I have just returned. From Oxford Circus I mean. I love London for people watching, it is the only place, period, where you can see a man on the tube getting the most out of his Starbucks by using his fingers and tongue to scrap the left over creaminess inside his cup. (It must have been a Vanilla Creme Ice, Emily) Anyway, I went to get a key cut. My sister flatmate lent me his keys. I didn't get it cut. Something about copies not working, only 70% chance and £10. No thanks.
In the area, I stopped by at Tank. Thinking I would get lost at least a couple of times it was my surprise when I found it straight away. I went in at 11.55, and came out at 12.00. But, I think she appreciated my, "Is there anything you would like me to do on this weekend I have off even in the beautiful sunshine" attitude. Which can't be bad. I had a quick look in Topshop before coming back. Got depressed, and returned, which I said before.
Just spoke to Matt too (the man), which is always lovely. However, you know those annoying situations where two people are doing the exact same thing e.g walking aimlessly across town, and it would make sense for you to do that together, but you're not, because you're are in different places. Blah. Whatever. It's time for some super noodles."

"Oh... Can't wait to start on Monday!"

"OHHHH... Going to an ethical fashion exhibition tomorrow."

TOPSHOPPED.

Usually I have an absolute love/hate relationship with Topshop.
Being a student, I remember the days of Topshop being the more or less the same level as NewLook or H&M- pricewise.
But now they are producing beauties of garments, which yes yes yes I want everything in the shop, but it's so fucking expensive!
The shop targets students, but is completely out of the student money league. It could be classed as torture, maybe. However, saying this, I used to get really cross with Topshop for producing rip offs of designers work out of crappy material and then charging £50 for it. Have things changed?
In my morning research routine I came across the new Topshop Collection.
It looks great quality and really edgy and totally worth the £70 you're probably going to spend on those sequinned and studded trousers you've seen. Oh, the contradiction.

TANK.

A few months back I had an interview to become an intern at TANK magazine in july.
I got the job.
The dates got moved, I start on Monday.
Fuck.

It's come along so fast as well, that I beginning to get nervous.

Anyway, I'm here in London for three weeks, and will be keeping a diary blog of whats been going down.
Stay tuned.

What a bloody amazing day. For a BTEC level course this VIP show was extremely professional, and it's just fab to have this opportunity.

More primary research

I took this in sutton park, taking a different route I stubbled across another restriction. The ground was terribly boggy and it was very hard to cross. Since we, as humans, rely on the ground being perfect to walk on for everyday life, in this case it was not. Our feet sank and it smelt. Which proves that there are some environments which are not suitable for the average everyday purpose, which means that means that sometimes the environment, and weather again, will restrict us, and needs to be considered.

Restrictions- primary research

Restriction.
This year we suffered/enjoyed, however way you think, serious amounts of snow for a longer than usual length of time. This became a restriction for many people around the country, but also myself. I took this picture so that I could look back and remember the day we could drive out of my road. It was a sheet of ice, with no access to sand or grit. It got me wondering about the elderly as well, the snow might restrict their movement throughout that time due to it being slippy underfoot, even I was sliding about. So, weather conditions can be a restriction.

On a trip about Tamworth I saw these fences, and they are the same fences which my old school were lined in. They have spikes along the tops of them to restrict intruders from coming in. Also, I have seen that wildlife can be hurt by landing on the tip of these fences which is another restriction to these fences.
This is an example of restrictions being both bad and good to society or person or any living thing. Whilst they protect the building beneath the security, they harm birds and are quite the eye saw. However, I do like the structure of these, it almost reminds me of boning in a corset.

FANCY A THINK?

Just came across this short film on agendainc.com, it's really quite interesting. There are moments where I feel as if my brain is slowly melting into nothing, and these kind of films are what help me out.

Share the thoughts, take a look.
LOVE the illustrations.
