M.I.A

I am a major fan of M.I.A, and if you are too, then check out her new track and video. It has been banned from youtube, and is fucking powerful, amazing.

GETTING THE HANG.

So, after creating a brand new blogger, I felt it was important that this blog looked professional. I have now kind of got the hang of blogger all new features. Including the pages above. Now the posts are catagorized, meaning, if you are looking for something a little serious, click on NEWS, a catch up in the fashion word? Click FASHION. Simple as that.

Its been a long old day of portfolio development, and the unfortunate case of 'skirt being fucked', which of course has put us back a little on the old making process of the collection. Nevertheless, things happen, we work on it. Nothing a gigantic mug of hot chocolate couldn't solve. You really should check out rustymittens for an inside look. Also, Protect the Guilty (which will be coming in magazine form very soon.) as there is a four page spread about our collection inside. Once I got home I wanted to be happy before I sleep tonight. I started looking through collections, and styling and what not. I am really quite in awe at some designers and the skills they have. I know that they have their collection made by someone else, however, the idea, the concept the utter realisation is inspirational. My collaborative design partner commented today on Victor and Rolfs amazing recent a/w catwalk. If you havent seen it, you must. After a shitty day those amazing dutchmen are all I need. This collection in particular.
Click here to see, or enter the partners site emiilyliike to see.

There will be much more to tell of later. For now, check out these beauties from V&R.

A/W

My favourite a/w looks from:

RAG AND BONE.

LABEL FIND. Am I completely idiotic to not notice Albino before? Three seasons old, and I really like this a/w 2010 collection, it's fashion forward and is experimental with print lines. I love the pretty collar with sheer sleeves and two tone skirt.
Also, the gorgeous coat, below. I've been looking for something like this and it's so beautiful. I will definitely be looking out for them in future collections and I think you should too.

GIRL CRUSH AT BREAKFAST.

I've always been a fan of Leigh Lezark, she's so dark and her style is gothic and pretty. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am dark with my design, so she might be my next muse. She makes me want to dye all my clothes and hair black. My hair is slowly annoying me more and more. It has gone from primary red, to ruby, to dark red, to slightly copper in colour. Now everyone is bloody smearing red on their heads, and I tired. My sister, a hair stylist, insists lighter strawberry shades is the way to go, but maybe darker? I don't know, I'm not going to ramble on like a proper chick, because I couldn't care THAT much.
Absolute girl crush.

OH MIU MIU YOU BABE.

SHAKING FROM SUGAR is fast becoming a huge wish list due to a sad Saturday night in of looking through the latest and previous collections, and discovering yet more super fucking beautiful finds which I would actually squeal like a small child to have. Most of all, I think, are these Miu Miu beauties! I've been seeing the clog type heel everywhere, but combine it with Miu Miu's majorly desirable print and you have me on my knees, begging, naturally, as I am but a student, without a case of the riches.

I love this shirt, I see it everywhere thought lately, I really wish Miu Miu would put a small limit on these shit smashing shirts, so that the exclusivity and value stays within it's unique-ness. But, I think not somehow.
So if this is going to happen, I'm going to share a little more. It's late, and everyones in bed, I've effectively zoned out of the real world as I carry a selection of screenshots on my desktop of 'things I will buy' which frankly, is quite depressing.
I think I may be catching a disease. A disease in which I have to have beautiful shoes around me. I've always noticed their beauty, but never felt the need to have them come the rare occasion that I have pennies. However, recently, they are all I notice! Maybe it's since designers are taking a lot more time with shoes in their collections recently. Alexander McQueen and his models parading in huge ballet diamond heels, some sculpted like Alice in her wonderful wonderland. Chanel, introducing beautiful new fabrics and textures. Here, below, Charlotte Olympia and her holly bush-like (in my mind) black beauties and the super Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. MY GOD I HAVE BECOME A STEREOTYPE OF MYSELF, I AM FINALLY A FASHION LOVER WHO LOVES SHOES AND WILL USE CARRY BRADSHAW AS MY INSPIRATION.

Erm, maybe not.

Anyways, for now, drool over these so I can get some sleep.

DESIRE FROM 2009.

FASHION AGAINST FUR.

A campaign against rabbit fur in the fashion industry.
The larger image is the final, I created this because I wanted people to see the horrid side of beautiful furs such as rabbit fur. I wanted the model beautiful, and for it to seem as we thought the blood, muscle and guts were too. The reaction to my work has been a mixture of views; some being distraught about the idea of using a real dead rabbit for the shoot. Please may I note, I bought the rabbit from the Butchers, it was already dead, already skinned, and cost me pretty much an arm and both my legs. I'm dramatising of course, however the intentions were good. Some people really like the dramatic statement and guts myself and the model, who happens to be my collaborative partner in design at the moment, had to actually do this.

Let me know of your thoughts.

GIVE ME TERRY.

So, as I was rummaging through Terry Richardson' website, as pure usual... I came across this which I hadn't noticed before. I want so badly to have this piece of clothing on my body. I would do alsorts of everything to have this. When will be the day? I would love to know.

For now, I'll just add this to the pile of 'you wish' in my wardrobe.

Malcolm.

Bye chap, you caused chaos and we very much appreciate it.
Loving thoughts and heaviness.

Buy me a sun.

So the sun has decided to show a little love to Britain recently, which is absolutely beaut in my opinion. The fact that most of the UK is butt naked nowadays I think confirms that they agree!
The trees are blossoming, grass is green as hell, flowers... the sky is back to it's streaky self once more too. I have to say, I kind of hate this fact. For the brief week of Volcanic ash in our skies the sky resembled a clean palette of sea-like blues, and now it's pretty cloudy and shit due to the amount of carbon dioxide those flying fuckers pump out.

It feels so nice to be able to do sketches outside instead of cooped up inside in the air conditioned glass room we work in. So I guess the purpose of this post is to spread the joy, and maybe a little rant about the environment and skies too.

Here's some snaps from todays grassy lesson/lunch.

Fashion Film.

Fashion icon Diane Pernet and thirteen year old Tavi Gevinson-blogger and fashion follower- will be hosting a competition with ASVOFF ( A Shaded View On Fashion Film ) for the next big fashion film maker. A competition worth entering in my mind. Fashion film is a huge part of the industry right now, and everyone wants to be part of the new trend.

Fresh blogger.

So everyone is loving blogger nowadays.
I have two previous bloggers, which one of them has become more about myself then the blog itself- never good!
The other, rustymittens, is a brilliant way to see what I and my partner in fashion are getting up to.

This blog, SHAKING FROM SUGAR, is coming soon. See you there.
